I’m going to bed early tonight. Tomorrow morning I’ve got to be up at 5:00am or so. Jenna and Jason decided they wanted to be married at sunrise at Redfish Lake. I’ll be there to photograph the whole thing. They just stopped by my hotel room to go over all the details and this is going to be great. Nighty night, now.
Before you go to France, come by my studio and I’ll make some great portraits of you. That’s what Betty did. I’ll ask if you play the trombone (Betty doesn’t) and we’ll listen to Tahita 80. You might dance on the table, you might not. I’ll tell you a funny story about the time I lived in Mexico and we’ll laugh some.
In the end, the pictures will be fabulous and we’ll both be glad you came by. We’ll feel like it’s a great way to spend a couple hours just days before you’re off to school in France. Then, seven years later you’ll pull out those photographs and think about how much you’ve changed in such a short amount of time and you’ll think about just how lucky you are to have such pictures that mark the passing of time.
Don’t you just love photography?

I was able to take more pictures for the Flower Basket in Provo. It’s just up the road from my office and they have new and fabulous products you should check out. Thanks, Sarah.

Wow. Good times, Lindsay and Whitney. Let me just say, the Conley family knows how to throw a party. My, my. To see a three minute slide show, click here.

Beth is updating her portfolio. She came to the office at 10:00am and said the client needs these images by 11:00am. Wow. That’s ambitious. Good thing I work fast.

Chanda is a smart alec. Also, she loves to smile. She made fun of the book I’m reading and told me I need to listen to more Bob Dylan. Then she smiled real big. It was almost like she couldn’t help it.
Here’s a 45 second slide show with some of my favorites.

The Barrus family is smart. Since they were all going to be together in Idaho for a family reunion, they decided it would be a good time for family pictures. I drove to the cabin in Ashton, Idaho where they were staying and on my way up there that morning, driving along Highway 20, nearly in the shadow of the Tetons, I thought, I love my job. Thanks Barrus family for letting me come up to create a little bit of family history for you all. I sure enjoyed being with you.

Last night I had a crushing disappointment. I was supposed to have secured a press pass to go shoot the Wilco concert. Everything was lined up a month ago, but three hours before the show started I got a call letting me know it wasn’t going to happen. I’m still not clear on the real story (Quick question: what the crap?) and I was really sad about it. But hey, when life hands you lemons, make lemmonade and ad vodka, right? Well I don’t drink, so I’ll just have plain lemmonade, thank you. Extra lemons, maybe.
So instead of going to the Wilco show (seriously, I was so bummed) I just photographed my friend Brett instead. He saw this picture and called it the King of the Adams Apple. I laughed. Good times. Brett’s always been so adept at cheering me up. Last night was no different. Thanks Brett, uh, I mean thanks King of the Adams Apple.

They met on a street corner. She went back a week later hoping to run into him again. Funny seeing you here, oh what a coincidence, and all that. Lovebirds.
I’ve been out of the office for a few days.
I swam in the Teton River and rode a jet ski on Island Park Reservoir. Kissed my wife. Visited my grandfather and gave my two boys a ride on a four-wheeler. I ate fresh trout. Got some mosquito bites. Layed in a hammock. Had pleasant dreams. I didn’t see a moose, but I did see a couple sandhill cranes and a muskrat.
Now I’m home, so I’m going to email and call you back.
Bradley and Kelli are the sort of people, that after you’ve been around them, you’ll leave wanting to read more books (I’m thinking, say, War and Peace, Adam Bede), know more about the stock market, be kinder to your kids and get up earlier in the morning. In short, you’ll want to be a better person. And those are just the sort of people I like hanging around.

Photographed in Midway, Utah.
I’m scanning some negatives from around 1997 – 2000. He’s an image from way back then. An oldie, but a goodie.
