Provo wedding photography – Lizy and Nick

Allow me to tell you two things I learned at Lizy and Nick’s wedding.

Number one–Mariachi bands should be a regular part of nearly every function where people gather, including church and funerals and those ceremonies where someone is presented with an over-sized check. The mariachi band was my favorite part of her reception. The other thing I learned is this–I want to laugh and smile as often and frequently as Lizy does. (You’ll see what I’m talking about when you view the pictures of her).

And then a third thing I already knew, but was reinforced at her wedding–I love being a wedding photographer. That night, at the reception, as people were having a good time, dancing, laughing, and the sun was setting low, low, so that good light was starting to come in, I stood back for a minute and thought that if I was just driving by and came across this scene, the first thought I’d have is “Hey, look. Happy people dancing and having fun. I want to stop the car and go photograph that.”

Hi. My name is Justin. I am a wedding photographer. And now, Lizy and Nick:

Looks like a wonderful, amazing event!

BTW, I don’t think I’ve ever seen dark blue frosting; looks tasty.

Justin,

love these shots. it does look like it was a lot of fun. my favorite picture is the one of the older gentlemen who is apparently singing a John Philip Sousa march.

These are stunning shots. My favorite is the bride, the groom and female guest in front of the large door. Fantastic!

Additionally, I don’t even know these people and I find myself wishing I knew them and was at their wedding reception!!! They look like loads of fun!

Strange though – you haven’t posted one photo of Nick (or Lizy for that matter) really looking at the camera. Wedding photography is more about the couple then the band isn’t it?

Hi Jordan. Thanks for the comment. After editing, there were plenty of images with Lizy and Nick looking at the camera. For blog posts, I try to show some diversity from image to image. It’s always good to hear how people respond to what’s posted, so I appreciate your comment and you taking the time to say something.

I just saw this couple at Gurus tonight and my first thought was, wow she’s beautiful;what a great smile. Way to capture the energy and spirit of the event! And, of course, congratulations to the happy couple!

Wait, Stephanie, you were at Gurus and you didn’t come by my office to say hi? That’s two demerits for you.

have you ever photographed a bride eating an ice cream cone (sugar of course)? just wondering.

justin July 1, 2009 at 5:08 pm

That’s a good question, Janet. I don’t think I have. I once photographed a bride riding a carousel.
