New York Portrait Session

Here’s how we met. I went to a wedding in Santa Cruz. Jeff and Aurora were guests. I asked them where they lived–New York–and I told them I had a wedding the next week in New York. They said, well then we should hang out. I just happened to have an extra day after the wedding that I was leaving open for just this sort of random possibility and spending time with someone interesting and fun.

We went to lunch at a great place in Hell’s Kitchen called Room Service. It’s Thai food, and I give it a very high recommendation. I’d go back any second. After lunch, I asked if I could take some pictures of them. Here’s how that played out.

Meet Jeff and Aurora.

These two are so great, and I was really grateful for their openness, and invitation to get together, even though they had never met me before. After I met Jeff and Aurora, I discovered we have quite a few friends in common. Man, it’s a small world.

Wow any one of these would be my favorite photo of myself ever. More people need to hire great photographers and then just wear everyday clothes and shoot in everyday places.

These are exceptional. I’ve said this before Justin — I love how you’re able to put people at ease and allow them to be who they truly are. Good schtuff!

Such a small world! Aurora’s from my stake in CA. These pictures are gorgeous! Let me know the next time you’ll be in Colorado. We’ve got a new house, new dog, and baby on the way that I’d love to have captured by you!
