Portrait sessions in New York City

by justin on May 21, 2013

in portraits, Travel

I did this last year and loved it so much, I’m doing it again this year. Portrait sessions in New York City.

So here they are again, Big City Sessions. Guess who they’re for? You!

I’d love to photograph you in the greatest city in the world, New York, New York, the town so nice they named it twice.  There are only Five Big City Sessions available and they will take place on June 19, 21, and 22.

Imagine all those beautiful, iconic photographs you’ve seen of New York City. Now, imagine them with you in the picture. These sessions will last a little longer than a regular portrait session, so I only have 5 spots available while I’m in town. These portrait sessions will be tailored just for you, with multiple locations, anywhere in Manhattan that you’d like. At this point, you might be saying to yourself, “Ok, ok, I’m in. Stop talking and just tell me how to book a session!”

You have two options.

Option ONE - $695

  • The Big City Session (multiple locations)
  • A $200 print credit toward our out-of-this-world, hand-made, fine art prints
  • 30 edited full resolution digital files

Option TWO - $995

  • The Big City Session (multiple locations)
  • A $300 print credit toward our out-of-this-world, hand-made, fine art prints
  • 50 Edited full resolution digital files
  • The Big City Session Album – A beautiful book with a Japanese silk cover, fine art paper, includes 20 of your favorite images

To book a session, email me (justin@justinhackworth.com) and we’ll arrange a time for you on one of the following days: June 19, 21, 22.

You might be asking -

Is this for families or individuals?
Yes! Either one.

Can I make my own prints from the digital files you provide?
Yes! That’s the reason they are included. You’ll be able to share those digital files with family and friends, post the images on Facebook or your blog, or make your own prints.

What are your fine-art prints?
Providing beautiful fine art prints is something I value. I’m going to take beautiful pictures of you, and I want them to be printed and presented to you in the finest possible way. They are gorgeous, heirloom quality photographs, that will soon be an treasured part of your family history. Our fine art prints are just one of the things that set us apart from other photographers.

Feel free to email me if you have further questions. Email today to book a session. justin@justinhackworth.com
See you soon!

Musician portraits

in Music, portraits

This is the very talented composer, Andrew Maxfield. He’s currently finishing up a very cool project–it’s a CD of original compositions, mixed with poems written and read by Wendell Berry. I photographed Andrew at his house in Provo, Utah.

Fun musical side-notes: Andrew’s brother is the lead singer of Fictionist and he’s married to the cello player, Liz Davis Maxfield.

While Kristin’s mother was out here visiting from the East Coast, she thought it would be the perfect time to be photographed with her mother and her daughter. I agree.

I’m teaching a photography class at UVU this semester and yesterday we had class at my studio in Provo.

While waiting for everyone to arrive, I thought I’d pass the time by making quick portraits of those that came early. This is about half the class. I’m hoping I’ll have a chance to make a good portrait of everyone else before the class is over.

Headshots special for $125

by justin on February 12, 2013

in blogging, portraits

Are you like me? Do you often go to someone’s blog or check them out on Facebook to see what that person looks like only to discover that the photograph is so terrible you have mistaken them for a horse? The moral of this story (not really a story) is to make the right impression with a great profile picture. You’ll look legit, professional, and it’s also a very good way to stand out from the crowd. The picture you use says so much about you. Make sure it’s saying what you want.

I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking, but Justin, won’t a great profile picture cost a lot of money? Well, hold on to your hat.

I’m offering this headshot service for at an incredible price for a limited time.

$125 will get you a headshot portrait session at my studio plus 5 images of your choice that you are free to use for online purposes: your blog, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn (seriously, people actually use LinkedIn), online store, profile picture for your next convention speaking engagement, you name it.

But just like a delicious pie sitting on the counter, this sweet deal isn’t going to last forever. I’m only offering this special rate on a few select days in February and March 2013. For available days, further details, and additional samples, see our headshot page.

It’s time to put your best foot forward, Tiger. Let’s talk.

Legendary graphic designer Stefan Sagmeister was one of the keynote speakers at this year’s Alt Design Summit. He’s amazing, of course, and wowed and inspired everyone in attendance.

Color Me Katie

by justin on January 28, 2013

in bloggers, portraits

In the nicest way possible, Katie Sokoler made me feel old. Old, as in, having fun took effort, instead of something that just happened naturally, because if you have fun naturally, that way, life is so much, uh… funner. And for someone that describes themselves as a professional fun maker, it’s not surprising that when I asked her if I could take her picture, instead of just sitting in a chair (what I probably would have come up with), she wanted to jump on the bed or throw around some balloons. It was so great to watch the way she thought about taking pictures. She’s a photographer herself, and a very clever one. She took a look around the room and came up with possibility after possibility.

Clever and creative, and most of all, FUN, meet Katie.

Logan moved to Provo in 2011 to start the New Morning Free Will Baptist Church. It hasn’t been easy, but he’s making progress and is happy with how things are going. If anyone can do it, Logan can. He’s photographed here with his lovely wife, Grayson.

Provo Family Portraits

Here’s James and Andrea Clark with their 3 beautiful kids, photographed at their home in Provo, then, Provo Canyon. Here’s something about James. He can get grumpy people to be happy and he can get University presidents to show up at his birthday party. He’s a graduate of Harvard and Oxford Universities. James and I are a lot alike. And by a lot alike, I mean, we’re both from Rexburg.

Meet James and Andrea.

Father and Son Portraits

by justin on November 19, 2012

in portraits

In the past few years I’ve photographed a couple hundred mother/daughter portrait sessions. But this is the first time I’ve had a four generation portrait session with fathers and sons. My friend Tye came with his son, his father and his grandfather. I’m so glad they did and I know, as the years go by, with these pictures a part of their family history now, they’ll be so glad, too.

Meet Tye and his family.
