Turns out, we’re practically neighbors. And I saw Paige’s mom at the last Rooftop Concert. I’ll bet now that I’ve met them and found out we live near each other, I’ll run into them all the time. I sure hope so.

Rachel came from Colorado to be photographed with her mother, grandmother, and daughter. That’s cool, but here’s the even cooler part. It was a surprise to her mother–her arrival, the portrait session–the whole thing. I love that.

….

Side-story:  Rachel had a little girl with her that, at one point, wasn’t all that happy. So she did what any two-year old would do to let us know she wanted a little attention. She cried some. I asked Rachel if it would be ok to give her a sucker. Sure. So I asked our adept intern if she’d go get it. A few minutes later the kids were chewing gum but no one was eating a sucker.

Me: Did you find that sucker?
Ashley: I couldn”t find it.
Me: Really? It should be right on my side of the desk.
Ashley: Umm…. I ate the sucker.

Well, it was a Blow-pop. Can you blame her?

Justin Hackworth photographs lovely weddings and happy people. Why do you keep putting off your family pictures? Don’t wait much longer. Before you know it, those little kiddies of yours will be off to college in New York or Seattle and by that time, they’ll be too heavy to sit on your lap. Let’s talk. Now’s the time for family pictures.

Me: I love your shoes. They’re fabulous.
Her: Thanks. My son gave them to me.
Me: Wow. That was really nice of him.
Her: Well, I did him the favor of putting them on layaway at Nordstrom.

The 30 Strangers project will soon be over. But what to do about all those people that still wanted to participate after the 30 spots were filled? Well, we came up with a great plan and a super deal. Interested parties still have a little time to get in on it. Let me know if you’re interested and I’ll give you the low-down. That’s what Kiera did. And I was so glad she did, too. She’s a great photographer and I’ve been wanting to meet her for a while. Well, today I got to.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again–I love my job. Thanks for coming in today with your mother and your daughter, Kiera.

Me: What do you want to be when you grow up?
Her: A dentist.
Me: Why do you want to be a dentist?
Her: Because when I tell people “it’s your turn” they will come right then.

Sarah is an illustrator. Do yourself a favor and check out her work here. I LOVE what she does and was so glad to meet her. Thanks for coming, Sarah.

Our 30 Strangers project is well under way and I love the way it’s going so far. But what to do about all those people that still wanted to participate after the 30 spots were filled? Well, we came up with a great plan and a super deal. If you want to know what it is, email me and I’ll tell you all about it. That’s what Beth did.

Someone in these photographs is 100 years old! (I’m going to let you guess which person). When I asked the secret to her long life and what she ate, I got this answer: Bacon.

Looking for family photographs just like mama used to make? I don’t know what to tell you there, but if you want something fresh, authentic and artistic with a dash of whimsy, we should talk. Wedding photography? We do that too.
