Hey there, great photographer. We’re looking for a great photographer to join our team. Is it you?

Associate photographer

The main thing this person will do is corporate headshots. We could give the right photographer a good amount of work.

And what would be great, is if that person also loves weddings and is amazing at shooting weddings, too. Because we often have a need for an additional wedding photographer at the studio.

Oh, ok, and it wouldn’t hurt if that person could also kill it with family portraits. But the main priority is headshots, and probably weddings, and every once in a while, families. Unless this person is just so good that it would be a crime to keep them from photographing families.

But to begin, it’s mostly the headshot thing. We get a lot of requests for headshots.

I would love to find a photographer who wants to do as many headshot jobs that they can because they LOVE doing headshots and are very good at it. This position is perfect for someone that has had a few years of experience photographing people professionally, would love to be doing more of it, but they don’t care for the business part of it—marketing, finding the right client, booking the job, invoicing, and instead, just wants to show up and meet great people, make great photographs, and call it a day.

Our current approach to headshots requires friendly, positive and engaging interactions with those who are photographed. Being good at photography is only half of the equation. Being good with people is the other half.

The ideal candidate for this position

  • Similar philosophy, approach, aesthetic to Justin

  • Solid headshot/portrait portfolio, and to a lesser degree a solid wedding portfolio, solid family picture portfolio

  • Local-ish. Close to Salt Lake or Provo. Most jobs will be in either town.

  • Flexible schedule. For the headshot jobs, those are mainly week-days, during business hours.

  • Has own gear (cameras, Lightroom, computer…)

  • Can manage high stress situations

  • Comfortable around high profile people.

  • Confident and assertive for managing large group photo setups

  • Reliable. Has a great data management system, for both capturing and backing up images.

Previous experience

  • Five years experience photographing people, especially headshots.

  • Must know how to light with studio strobes.

  • Solid file management

The schedule is often random, depending on a client’s availability. Flexibility with the length of each shoot is a must. Pays hourly, and the rate depends on experience, but to give you a ballpark figure, it is in the $60 - $100 range.
